- Mayas has represented employers in cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, contract disputes and wage payment issues before state and federal courts and handled claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Department of Labor and other administrative agencies.Mayas has represented business clients in regulatory and licensing matters, disputes and alleged violations, including actions under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and State regulations. Mayas has handled numerous regulatory and licensing actions before the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), State Attorneys General and Consumer Protection Agencies in all 50 states.Prior to re-joining the firm in July 2025, Mayas worked as in-house counsel in the regulatory legal department for largest the natural gas utility in the United States, handling rate and regulatory matters. In that role, Mayas handled witness preparation for rate cases in eight states, ensured compliance with federal and state regulations relating to public utilities and pipeline safety, coordinated with outside counsel on case management, worked with seven internal divisions across eight states relating to rate filings, proceedings and claims before state commissions, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and other administrative agencies.
