Twelve states, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Missouri, Montana, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Vermont, announced in 2013 that their minimum wage will rise starting in 2014.  In addition, New Jersey voters approved a Constitutional amendment in 2013 to raise the minimum wage in 2014 and tie future increases to the cost of living.  In Colorado, an increase has been proposed.

Are you in compliance?

Arizona:

The Industrial Commission of Arizona announced the minimum wage will rise from $7.80 to $7.90 effective January 1, 2014.

California:

California's A.B. 10 requires the minimum to rise from $8.00 to $9.00 effective July 1, 2014, and to $10.00 effective January 1, 2016. 

Colorado:

The Department of Labor and Employment has proposed the minimum wage to rise from $7.78 to $8.00 effective January 1, 2014.  We will continue to monitor and report on Colorado's final minimum wage determination. 

Connecticut:

Connecticut's S.B. 387 requires the minimum wage to rise from $8.25 to $8.70 effective January 1, 2014, and to $9.00 effective January 1, 2015. 

Florida:

The Department of Economic Opportunity announced the minimum wage will rise from $7.79 to $7.93 effective January 1, 2014.

Missouri:

The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations announced the minimum wage will rise from $7.35 to $7.50 effective January 1, 2014.

Montana:

The Department of Labor and Industry announced the minimum wage will rise from $7.80 to $7.90 effective January 1, 2014.

New Jersey:

New Jersey's SCR 1 requires the minimum wage to rise from $7.25 to $8.25 effective January 1, 2014.  Also starting in 2014, the minimum wage will be automatically adjusted each September and increases will be implemented each January, based on inflation as determined by the Consumer Price index.

New York:

New York's A 3007 and S 2607 requires the minimum wage to rise from $7.25 to $8.00 effective December 31, 2013; to $8.75 effective December 31, 2014; and to $9.00 effective December 31, 2015.

Ohio:

The Department of Commerce announced the minimum wage will rise from $7.85 to $7.95 effective January 1, 2014, for businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $292,000 per year (In 2013: more than $288,000 per year).

Oregon:

The Bureau of Labor and Industries announced the minimum wage will rise from $8.95 to $9.10 effective January 1, 2014.

Rhode Island:

Rhode Island's H 5079 and S 256 requires the minimum wage to rise from $7.75 to $8.00 effective January 1, 2014.

Washington:

The Department of Labor and Industries announced the minimum wage will rise from $9.19 to $9.32 effective January 1, 2014.

Vermont:

Vermont's Department of Labor announced the minimum wage will rise from $8.60 to $8.73 effective January 1, 2014.
