As we blogged about earlier this week, the EEOC announced it expects to begin collecting EEO-1 Component 2 pay data based on gender, race, and ethnicity in mid-July 2019.  In its notice published on the Federal Register, the EEOC also announced it was still deciding whether to require EEO-1 Component 2 pay data for 2017.

Yesterday, the EEOC announced on its website, "EEO-1 filers should begin preparing to submit Component 2 data for calendar year 2017, in addition to data for calendar year 2018, by September 30, 2019."  The EEOC also shortened the 30-day extension for employers to report other EEO-1 data, due May 31, to two weeks.

Employers should take steps immediately and pull together resources to ensure that the required data components can be captured, analyzed, and reported by September 30.
