Rachel A. Morris
Rachel Morris focuses her practice on representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment litigation and compliance. In addition, Rachel represents companies in consumer law matters under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other consumer law statutes.
In Rachel’s employment litigation practice, she has successfully defended employers in both federal and state courts, before numerous government agencies -- including the DOL, EEOC, andFCHR -- and has represented employers in audits performed by the Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division. She has handled individual and collective action claims involving allegations of unpaid wages and overtime; unlawful background investigations; discrimination, harassment, retaliation; FMLA/leaves of absence; whistleblower claims; and breach of contract. On a regular basis, Rachel audits employer handbooks, policies, and procedures. She has also handled substantive background check compliance reviews on a national scale for large employers. She also provides legal compliance, advice, and defends corporate clients relating to “furnisher” responsibilities under the FCRA. In 2018 and 2019, Florida Super Lawyers selected Rachel as a Rising Star in labor and employment litigation.
Rachel graduated, summa cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 2011 where she graduated second in her class. During law school, Rachel served on the Executive Board of Stetson Law Review as the Research Editor and was a judicial intern for Judge James D. Whittemore, at the Middle District of Florida, and Judge Edward C. LaRose, at Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal. Prior to law school, Rachel graduated, magna cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 2008.
