Matt McCluer joined the Firm’s Consumer Defense and Employment Sections in Metairie in 2017. He previously worked at a national labor and employment firm and has experience in the areas of commercial and insurance litigation, professional liability defense, and labor and employment defense. Matt has represented large corporate clientele in high-stakes commercial lawsuits, as well as Louisiana businesses in contract disputes and collection actions, and has extensive experience in class-and-collective-action litigation. Based on his reputation in the legal community, Matt has been designated as a “Louisiana Rising Star” by SuperLawyers each year since 2014 and has received an AV-Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
Matt graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in Political Science and English, before earning his J.D., cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law, where he served on the Law Review and as an executive member of the Moot Court Board. He placed nationally in the National Moot Court Competition and the Robert Wagner Labor & Employment Law Moot Court Competition. Based on his brief writing and oral argument skills, Matt was named to the National Order of Barristers in 2011.
Matt is an active member of the Louisiana State Bar Association as a council member of the Labor & Employment Section, and in the American Bar Association as co-chair of the National Trial Advocacy Competition’s finals held annually in New Orleans. He also holds multiple leadership positions within the Defense Research Institute.
Matt is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.► Download vCard
