Elizabeth Fite Blanco
Elizabeth Fite Blanco is board certified by the Florida Bar Association as a specialist in labor and employment law. Her employment practice includes representing employers in cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, whistleblower statutes, the Family and Medical Leave Act, contract disputes, and wage payment issues before state and federal courts. Ms. Blanco also handles claims before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and other administrative agencies. She has defended hundreds of charges of discrimination during her career. She has also successfully defended employment law appeals before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to her employment practice, Ms. Blanco defends some of the largest collection agencies and debt buyers throughout the United States when they are sued under statutes such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act. She has participated in over a dozen consumer litigation class actions that involved extensive motion practice.
Ms. Blanco is licensed to practice law in Florida and the district courts of the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida. Ms. Blanco earned her law degree from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of law in 2002 with high honors. Ms. Blanco is a member of the Florida Chapter of Order of the Coif and is the recipient of the Frederic G. Levin Book Award in Race & Race Relations Law. While in law school, Ms. Blanco was the research executive for the Journal of Law and Public Policy. As a practitioner, Ms. Blanco served as the chair of the Hillsborough County Mock Trial Competition for several years, and has served on various committees with the Young Lawyer's Division of the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Prior to law school, Ms. Blanco earned her bachelor's degree in Asian Studies and Political Science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
