Damian P. Richard
Damian Richard’s practice focuses on consumer litigation defense and employment law. He has represented financial institutions in state and federal courts, bankruptcy court, at trial and on appeal. He has successfully defended debt collectors, national banks, loan servicers, and community credit unions from claims involving lending law, consumer protection, unfair competition, fraud and tort, as well as in complex employment litigation under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, Title VII, Fair Labor Standards Act, and state civil rights laws.
Prior to joining The Sessions Firm’s San Diego office, Mr. Richard practiced with a multi-state bankruptcy and mortgage litigation firm, and later with the Orange County office of an international law firm.
Before entering private practice, Mr. Richard clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and later served as a Trial Counsel, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, Legal Assistance and Tax Attorney for the U.S. Marine Corps. He continues to serve as a judge advocate in the Marine Corps Reserve. Both prior to and during law school, Mr. Richard worked as a consumer affairs specialist for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection Branch in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Richard is a 2002 graduate of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a 2005 graduate of the University of South Dakota's School of Law. He served as a staff writer and editor for the South Dakota Law Review.
Mr. Richard is licensed to practice in Alaska, Arizona, California, Oregon, South Dakota, and Washington, including the federal courts.
